A friend had reportedly loaned Dulos the ax about a month before Jennifer Dulos, went missing on Friday, May 24, in New Canaan, sources told the Hartford Courant.
According to sources, following Dulos' arrest on Tuesday, Jan. 7, detectives confiscated the ax from the garage of his expansive home. The ax will be sent to a state lab for DNA testing, the source told the Courant.
Dulos reportedly told the friend he wanted to chop fire in the backyard of his home when he borrowed the ax.
It was not clear if the ax had been in the home when it was searched in June by state police. Sources told the Courant that the friend informed police about the ax during an interview.
Dulos is behind bars on a $6 million bond after being charged with murder, felony murder, and kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos who has not been seen since dropping off her children at school on Friday, May 24.
According to an arrest warrant, the state's chief medical examiner believes that Jennifer Dulos suffered “non-survivable” injuries.
